(I've realised that I have been so slack in posting so I wanted to apologise!
I will be making an effort to post weekly from now on!)
My first blog post of 2016 is going to be winter skin/beauty survival!
I live in the UK, and at the moment it's FREEEEEZZZING!
It's cold, it's wet, it rains all the time, and it's just miserable! I think actually we are getting snow at some point in the next week also!
I have quite problematic skin at the best of times, but central heating, cold wind, public transport and rain make it so much worse! Not forgetting all the chocolate this weather makes me want to eat too!
My skin is usually combination (oily t zone and dry cheeks) but that seems to change on a daily basis, and at the moment especially its dry!! It's flaky, dull, spotty and sore! I actually woke up with my face hurting it was so dry!
When my skin is bad it really brings down my confidence, and makes me so self concious!
I have tried so many products to help get winter skin looking healthy, brighter, glowing and georgous, and I've put together some of my faves that perk me up during January, and get me feeling more confident and myself again!
WINTER SKIN SOS
Lush cosmetics Skin Drink - this is THE best winter barrier cream I have tried! It's quite oily so I use it at night only, and a little goes a long way! It's so hydrating and doesn't clog pores and cause spots! I love this so much!
Lush cosmetics Coffee Scrub face and body mask - this stuff is THE BEST scrub I have tried! I use it all over and leave it on like a mask! It's very strong smelling, and if you hate the smell of coffee it might not be for you, but the results are so darn good!
It leaves skin fresh, awake and so soft! I feel like my make up goes on so much better after using this and stays put all day!
Another one of lush cosmetics masks I would recommend is 'cosmetic warrior' which tightens pores and calms skin! Mines particularly prone to redness and breakouts and this really helps! I'm a big lush fan as you can see!
EYE CARE
In the winter I tend to rub my eyes so much! I don't even know why, they go really dry and itchy and rubbing makes it worse! I swear by Optrex eye mist - a few sprays over closed eyes really helps hydrate and calm dry itchy eyes!
Two eye creams that help with dryness and brighten the area are Lush enchanted eye cream and MAC fast response eye cream. The MAC one is particularly good with make up, and was recommended to me by a makeup artist friend to help with creasing, and it really works. It's a bit pricey but again a little goes a long way.
MAKE UP
I feel in winter I need more coverage, but want to avoid looking caked in makeup. I recently switched to Georgio Armarni Luminous Silk Foundation after hearing such amazing reviews, and oh my gosh!!! So I think I may need to do a seperate post just on this foundation it's THAT good, but to summarise.... This foundation is so hydrating and makes skin look like beautiful skin! Glowy, healthy beautiful skin! Not caked at all! It retails at around £30 so it's definetly one of the more expensive ones out there, but I really feel it's worth it! I have been a MAC foundation devotee for years and I've never found anything this good!
BECCA under eye brightener - this is a really lovley product. I'm a big fan of the whole BECCA brand!
The under eye brightener is a pink toned cream that I find works best UNDER foundation. I can really suffer from bad dark circles and this really brightens up my face after late nights. BECCA is an American brand, but you can find this and other products on cult beauty.co.uk to avoid customs and crazy shipping fees.
Urban decay naked skin concealer - this is the best concealer I have tried! I used to use NARS and this is a million times better. It's full coverage so great for spots and imperfections, it's also so creamy and light to so it's also perfect for under eye areas as well.
Last product I really want to talk about is fake tan!
I'm so pale, I never tan even in 50 degree heat! If you want some winter colour but like me and don't tan I would 100% recommend Lauren's way fake tan - it's a lovley golden brown colour and comes in a variety of shades.
The tan is tinted so you can see where it's going, it's moisturising and not a hint of orange in site. One of the best on the market, and comes in lovley big bottles so lasts ages.
There are so many more products I want to add, but I don't want to bore you too much! I might do a part two later in the month??
I hope this has helped anyone suffering with any winter skin problems or just needs a bit of a boost during the dark cold post Christmas months!
